Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love that it’s the first main holiday of fall, and is accompanied by red and orange leaves, cooler weather, pumpkins, dressing up, decorating…the whole nine yards. I especially love decorating, whether just to be festive or to throw a Halloween party. If you are looking for cheap and easy-to-make decorations for this Halloween, here are some ideas to take your home, apartment, dorm room, or bedroom to a spookier level.
Spider web made out of yarn:
This is my favorite Halloween decoration! It is so easy to make, and is a great mix of spooky and cute! The spider web is created using black yarn and tape, and the letters are cut out of black construction paper. You can add some black pipe cleaner spiders to finish the look as well.
Old sheets on your furniture:
This is a very easy way to decorate. It adds an abandoned, haunted feel, and is perfect for Halloween parties- especially if you don’t want to get your couch dirty! To take this to the next level, add fake cobwebs to give the illusion that your home hasn’t been lived in for years.
Pipe cleaner wall creations:
It is easy to make any outline out of pipe cleaners. This year I made a ghost and a black cat, and then taped them to the wall. You could also potentially make a skull, an outline of Frankenstein’s face, a mummy, a bat, you name it! This is a very inexpensive yet fun decoration that can take up as little or as much wall space as you want.
Black paper bats:
You can find bat stencils online, and trace the stencil onto black paper. After cutting them out, you can stick them to windows or walls. You can even cut out a moon as well, which is especially fun on a window.
Fake cobweb strand lights:
You can hang white Christmas lights around a room, and then spread fake cobwebs and fake plastic spiders over them to transform your lights from merry to scary.
All you need to do now is plan your costume, grab some food, and invite your friends and family over for a hair-raising, haunted, howling good Halloween party!
